La Zenia & Playa Flamenca – Costa Blanca South
La Zenia and Playa Flamenca are two of the most popular areas in Orihuela Costa and an excellent base for a holiday on the Costa Blanca South.
Beautiful beaches, restaurants, shopping and activities are all close by, and one of the biggest advantages is how much you can reach on foot. Depending on where you stay, beaches, supermarkets, restaurants, cafés and shopping can all be within walking distance. The area is also active throughout much of the year, making it suitable for both summer holidays and longer winter stays.
Beaches & Coastal Walks
La Zenia and Playa Flamenca have several sandy beaches and smaller coves along the Mediterranean coastline. La Zenia Beach is one of the best-known beaches in Orihuela Costa, while Cala Capitán is a smaller and more sheltered option nearby. Playa Flamenca also has its own local beaches.
Coastal paths and promenades connect several parts of the coastline and are perfect for walking, running or simply enjoying the Mediterranean views.
Restaurants & Local Life
There is a large selection of restaurants, cafés and bars around La Zenia and Playa Flamenca, with everything from breakfast and casual family restaurants to Spanish, Italian, Asian and more modern dining.
Many are within walking distance of our holiday homes, while Campoamor, Cabo Roig, Punta Prima and Torrevieja offer even more options within a short drive. Unlike some more seasonal destinations along the coast, many restaurants, shops and services in and around La Zenia and Playa Flamenca remain open throughout the year.
Shopping
Zenia Boulevard is located in La Zenia and is one of the main shopping destinations on the Costa Blanca South. With more than 150 shops, restaurants and cafés, it feels more like an open-air shopping district than a traditional indoor shopping centre.
There are also supermarkets and smaller shopping areas throughout La Zenia and Playa Flamenca, making everyday shopping easy during your stay.
Families
La Zenia and Playa Flamenca are particularly convenient for families. Beaches, swimming pools, restaurants, playgrounds and everyday amenities are close by, while activities such as go-karts, mini golf, water parks and indoor play centres can be reached within a short drive.
For a bigger family day out, there are also theme parks, water parks and animal parks further north along the Costa Blanca.
Golf & Cycling
Several excellent golf courses are located within approximately 10–25 minutes by car, including Villamartín, Las Ramblas, Campoamor and Las Colinas. This makes La Zenia and Playa Flamenca a convenient base for golfers who want to combine several courses with beaches, restaurants and other activities.
The coastal area is also popular for casual cycling, while more experienced cyclists can explore longer routes inland and along the Costa Blanca.
Getting Here
Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport is approximately 45–50 minutes from La Zenia and Playa Flamenca by car. Región de Murcia International Airport is another option for some routes and is also within easy driving distance.
A car is useful if you want to explore more of the Costa Blanca South, but depending on the location of your holiday home, you can easily enjoy much of La Zenia and Playa Flamenca without one.
A Great Base for Exploring Costa Blanca South
Staying in La Zenia or Playa Flamenca puts you in a central position for exploring the southern Costa Blanca. Cabo Roig, Campoamor, Punta Prima and Torrevieja are all nearby, while Guardamar, Alicante and other destinations make easy day trips by car.
At the same time, you do not necessarily need to travel far. Beaches, restaurants, shopping and activities are already close to home.
